About the Project:
Free Thinking Dialogues
Free Thinking Dialogues is a dialogue program that brings residents together for open and constructive conversations about topics that can sometimes create tensions within society.
Through structured dialogue methods, the program creates space for mutual understanding, reflection and meaningful exchange.
The “Free Thinking Dialogues” project is financially supported by the Municipality of Rotterdam through the Samenleven in één stad 2024–2027 (Living Together in One City 2024–2027) grant scheme.
Free Thinking Dialogues are open to:
-
Local residents
-
Young people and parents
-
Local organisations and volunteers
-
Anyone interested in respectful dialogue
How Do the Dialogues Work? (90-Minute Session Structure)
-
Each dialogue lasts approximately 90 minutes and is facilitated by trained moderators.
-
The conversations follow a clear and structured format that ensures a safe environment, equal speaking time and respectful interaction.
Deep Democracy and the ZELVI Model
The dialogues are facilitated using the Deep Democracy and ZELVI Identity Model methodologies. These approaches encourage inclusive conversations, create space for minority voices and support participants in reflecting on identity, belonging and interconnectedness.
Would you like to learn more about ZELVI and Deep Democracy? Our handbook provides detailed information about these methods and much more. Visit the “Handbook and More” section to download the handbook as a free PDF.
