Event | PhD Café | How “nature” divides us, and “landscape” brings us together
Event Recap | PhD Café
Our December PhD Café took place in Utrecht, where we had a wonderful and inspiring evening with Tanja van Hummel. After enjoying a delicious meal together, we welcomed Tanja, who shared her research on discussions surrounding Natura 2000 areas and climate and nature activism. We had an insightful presentation and discussions in a warm and engaging atmosphere.
During her talk, Tanja shared her insights into how polarization developed between farmers and activists socially and politically, how EU laws affected communities, and the value of faith for these communities. During the Q&A, we discussed possible ways to solve these entrenched and polarized relations, and possible practical actions that ‘silent’ bystanders could take.
We are sincerely grateful to Tanja van Hummel for her valuable contribution and to everyone who joined us and enriched the discussion. A special thanks also goes to Stichting SECU for generously providing the venue for our PhD Café.
Our next PhD Café is planned for mid-January. To stay updated on future events, follow us on LinkedIn and other social media. You are also warmly invited to sign up for our newsletter to stay connected:
Thank you once again to all who joined us — we look forward to seeing you at the next PhD Café!
