We are pleased to announce our next PhD Café event!

Join an evening conversation with Dick de Jong on the ethics of care, titled: “As the person next to you: How theological reflection can contribute to caregiving.”

Dick de Jong is a retired student pastor and spiritual caregiver. His dissertation connects Christian theology with care ethics. This opens up discussion on religious backgrounds and motivations for working in the healthcare sector, and contributes to a critical perspective on care in our society.

His central argument is that in care relationships, giving and receiving should be seen as reciprocal. Caregivers may reflect on what they themselves receive through providing care, while care recipients may reflect on what they contribute through their request for care.

The event is open to everyone. Please fill in the registration form if you are interested.
